The Rachel Homan rink have controlled a good number of their countless victories, almost from start to finish, en route to a good number of bonspiel wins already compiled during the 2023-2024 season.

Occasionally, they also get lucky.

Swiss skip Alina Patz was inches heavy with her draw on the final shot of the extra end, allowing the Homan quartet to steal one and earn yet another handsome payday with their triumph yesterday at the Co-Op Canadian Open Grand Slam in Red Deer, Alberta.

The number one ranked team in the world which also features Sudbury native and vice Tracy Fleury, second Emma Miskew and lead Sarah Wilkes won six of their seven games out west, their only loss coming at the hands of Eugjung Kim of Korea, a 6-5 setback.

The team preceded this defeat with a win over Kate Cameron of Winnipeg (6-3), and then followed up their loss with a string of "W's", beating Isabella Wrana of Sweden (7-3) and American Delaney Strouse (8-3) before eliminating Eun ji Gim (Korea - 6-3 - QF) and Manitoba Jennifer Jones (8-3) in playoff action.
