JMYFL Spring Camp kicks off the 30th anniversary season
2023-04-09

Footballers of all ages are getting an early start on the summer of 2023.

Roughly a month after the Sudbury Jr Spartans drew unprecedented numbers to spring tryouts comes the announcement that the Joe MacDonald Youth Football League Spring Camp returns bigger and better.

From April 13th to May 19th, for a six week stretch, JMYFL coaches and officials will be hosting the twice a week sessions at the Lancer Dome on Thursday evenings (5:00 - 7:00 p.m.) and Sunday mornings (10:00 a.m. - noon).

A total of 120 young athletes will be enjoying the grooming that comes with sessions of fundamentals, creating the very basis of system that is feeding the current interest in summer football and beyond.

The JMYFL will be celebrating their 30th anniversary this summer, with a few new initiatives already announced.

Any players that are registered (registration opens on June 1st) will be entered in a draw for a quartet of tickets to a Toronto Argonauts' game.

Joe Mac is back with a three-division offering, beginning with the Micro-Macs (ages 5-7 - eight weeks for $50), the Mini-Macs (ages 8-10) and the Tykes (11-13).

As well, the JMYFL is making available, once again, the JMYFL Scholarship, with the application limited to a 500-word essay and the league hoping to dole out anywhere from six to ten scholarships of $500/each.

Finally, given the 30th anniversary, the JMYFL is committed to assembling a commemorative publication and would appreciate anyone who has access to either pictures or memorabilia from their time spent with the group to bring them to light.
