The home side of the James Jerome Sports Complex scoreboard did not get much of a workout at all as the SDSSAA Senior Football League wrapped up regular season play Friday afternoon.
The visiting teams posted back to back shutouts, with the Lo-Ellen Park Knights blanking the Lively Hawks 26-0 while the St Charles College Cardinals whitewashed the St Benedict Bears 24-0 in game two.
In a preview of the upcoming semi-finals, Lo-Ellen rode a three touchdown performance from running back Liam Conlin to victory over the Hawks as the Knights improved to 4-0, not allowing a single point against in their final two outings.
Quarterback Steven Sola chipped in with the remaining TD while kicker Trent Laferriere added a pair of converts.
Meanwhile, the Cardinals evened their season mark at 2-2 with a triumph over the winless Bears, who would see their one and only victory fall by the wayside following the withdrawal of the Lasalle Lancers from the league.
Braedon Albuoy recorded a pair of majors, with Keegan Blais also reaching the end zone while kicker Nicholas McGee added a field goal and three converts.
The results set up the slate for this coming Friday (October 21st) as the Lively Hawks (1-3) face Lo-Ellen for the second time in a week at 4:00 p.m. while the surprising Confederation Chargers (3-1) meet up with St Charles at 7:00 p.m. in what will hopefully be better conditions than the nearly unplayable second half of a 14-0 Confederation win two weeks ago.
