With Covid-19 forcing the cancellation of the annual Rick & Dan McDonald Memorial Foundation Golf Tournament, organizers have turned their efforts on-line.
The group is hosting a virtual 50/50 draw, to take place on the evening of the local Peace Officers Memorial Run (Monday, September 7th) at 6:00 p.m. at Rick McDonald Memorial Park in Azilda.
The Foundation is hoping to raise $5000, selling five thousand tickets at $2/ticket, with that same winfall being awarded to the holder of the lucky ticket.
Sargeant Rick McDonald was killed in the line of duty in 1999, while his brother, Dan, a corrections officer, perished in a car accident on his way to work, eight years later.
The McDonald Foundation was established to honour their memories. A not-for-profit organization, the group raises money in support of both Special Olympics, as well as children's events, with funds circulated back into the local community.
