Hall of Famer Norm Howard passes away
2020-07-20

Inducted into the Sudbury Sports Hall of Fame in the summer of 2018, just shy of his 90th birthday, lifelong Sudbury native Norm Howard passed away Sunday evening.

A much better than average multi-sport athlete, Howard was likely most well known for his coaching prowess in hockey, beginning at Ridgecrest Playground in 1961, but ascending quickly to the more competitive ranks.

He would mentor players from atom to midget, capturing several city and NOHA banners along the way, and helping to guide many a future OHLer, most often with teams donning the MacIsaac Mining emblem.

With his coaching days behind him, Howard would spend many a year volunteering with the Sudbury Regional Silver Stick tournament, a role that he filled for nearly 40 years.
