Futsal banner heading back to North Bay
by Randy Pascal
Given the white stuff currently blowing around Sudbury on May 1st, perhaps more futsal tournaments may be the answer for the high school soccer talent
just itching to get going.
Last month, the Sudbury District Sports Club (SDSC) hosted their 6th annual versions of their event, with the St Joseph - Scollard Hall Bears
from North Bay (girls) and the St Charles College Cardinals boys capturing the hardware.
Goals by Mya Madigan-Aultman and Malory Dominico powered the Bears to a 2-0 win over St Charles in the girls final, with Carli Hemsworth
recording the shutout and earning tournament MVP honours in the process.
St Joseph Scollard Hall had beaten both the Collège Notre-Dame Alouettes "B" team (4-1), as well as St Charles (2-1) earlier in the day, while
the Cardinals blanked both the Lively Hawks (6-0) and Confederation Chargers "B" (6-0), also trimming the Collège Notre-Dame "A" crew 2-1 along
The St Charles boys, meanwhile, proved to be too much for both the Lively Hawks (8-1) and St Benedict Bears (4-3), before doubling the Bears 4-2
in the final of an event that also included entries from Confederation and Collège Notre-Dame.
