Cardinals capture L.U. Futsal Invitational
by Randy Pascal
We might still be a month or more away from enjoying an outdoor game of soccer in Greater Soccer, but the St Charles College Cardinals are thankful for an
early jump in getting ready for the summer.
The Cards recently captured the Laurentian University Invitational High-School Futsal Tournament, reeling off six straight wins, including an 8-1 victory
over the Lo-Ellen Park Knights in the final.
St Charles knocked off the Lively Hawks (11-0), College Notre-Dame Alouettes (3-2), St Benedict Bears (3-2) and Lo-Ellen (3-2) in round robin
play, getting the better of the Bears for a second time in the semi-finals (7-1).
The scoring was nicely distributed for SCC, with Ryan Teddy showing the way with eight goals, followed closely by Aidan Martel (7), Gabriel
Sturgeon (6), Nicholas Gnahore (6), Pedro Campos (4), Jack Jordan (3) and Kameron McCue with a solo tally.
An exchange student from Spain, Campos was also named Tournament MVP. Rounding out the Cardinals roster are Matthew Belanger, Adam Tear, Arnaud Florien, Gavin
Piakowski, Cooper Boyd, Kamal Oduwole, Mbuyi N'Galamulume and Adrian Chitowa.
