NCA quartet compete in OYJC relay
by Randy Pascal
There is strength in numbers, certainly, as far as the members of the Nickel City Aquatics swim team are concerned.
The local club entered a relay team at the Ontario Youth Junior Championships for the very first time, thanks to a quartet of local representatives who had
managed to qualify for the event earlier this month.
In fact, for swimmers Matt Clapham (15), Nico Ovaska (15) and Keegan Lepage (13), this also marked the first time they had competed at the
provincial meet, with Tommaso Deni (15) making an appearance for the second time.
Taking part in their inaugural long-course meet of the season, the NCA quartet raced in a 4 X 100 meter freestyle relay at the Markham Pan Am pool. The top
NCA performance came courtesy of Tommaso Deni, posting a personal best time of 2:26.39 in the 200m butterfly, good enough for an 11th place finish.
