Winning streak reaches six before being snapped 2019-02-04 by Randy Pascal
A healthy winning streak coming out of their previous tournament play before Christmas would eventually come to an end for the Northern Chill 12U Girls in
Newmarket, but not before the young crew extended it a little, and then went right down to the wire in eventually dropping a pair of games.
The Chill safely navigated their way through Pool “C” action in the morning, sweeping past both the Orillia Suns – Galaxy (25-11, 25-14) and the Markham
Unity West (25-20, 25-16). Their cross-over encounter could not have been much closer, going the full distance before Leaside White stopped the locals
26-24, 19-25, 17-15.
Just that close to pushing their tournament winning streak to seven matches, the 12U Chill dropped another extra point third set affair, this time to the
Markham Revolution Ice, this time beaten 11-25, 25-17, 14-16.
“Throughout the day, the girls were continuously learning and growing as athletes, and as a team,” noted head coach Liandra Hunt. “They started applying all
of the skills they have been practicing and showed they are ready for competition.”
“Sophia Allen proved to be extremely strong on defense and was a force in the back row,” Hunt added. “We were able to start showing the other teams the
offense we have been working on, with strong attacks from Emma Perreault while in the front row.”
The remaining members of the team are Abby Laurin, Alyssa Banks, Andréa Bernard, Kaylee Seguin, Arianna Thibodeau, Cassandra Lapensée, Kayiesha Thomas, Kiersten
Goudreau, Myla Dowe and assistant coach Hailey Chisholm.
