Sports volunteer training coming to Sudbury
by Randy Pascal
Volunteer Sudbury, with the full support of SportLink - Greater Sudbury Sport Council, is excited to be hosting free training sessions
exclusively for sports leagues and associations next month.
On Saturday, October 13th (2018), at Minnow Lake Place (1127 Bancroft Drive), Volunteer Sudbury will be presenting a pair of workshops geared
towards the local amateur sports community.
The morning session, "Volunteer Management Training", will run from 10:00 a.m. through until 1:00 p.m., with a lunch break (1:00 - 2:00 p.m.) to
follow. This training was created specifically to address the unique challenges of recruiting, retaining, and motivating volunteers who are often parents,
players, or paying members of leagues.
The afternoon workshop will feature "Empathy Training" (2:00 - 3:30 p.m.), as registrants learn how to utilize crucial empathetic responses when
looking at dealing with various age ranges in sport. In this training, you will explore how to teach empathy, ways to build it, how you can foster
empathetic leadership in your organization, and why it is so important.
Staff representing Volunteer Toronto will be handling the morning presentation, with the Volunteer Sudbury crew tackling the afternoon messaging.
The first 30 people who sign up for these free workshops will also receive a complimentary lunch (all others will pay $15.00 towards their lunch).
Anyone interested is asked to please sign up prior to September 26th, by logging on to vmtraining.volunteertoronto.ca. If you have any questions
or concerns, please feel free to reach out to Alanna Lahay via email (firstname.lastname@example.org), or by phone at (705) 560-6661.
Groups are welcomed to have more than one person attend from their organization.
