Dan Couillard with back to back titles at Lively Golf Club
by Randy Pascal

After breaking through to claim the Lively Men's Open title for the first time in 2017, Dan Couillard wasn't about to easily relinquish bragging rights at the Lively Golf Club last weekend, one year later.

Couillard surged back from a fifth place standing on Saturday to beat Brent Hatton by two strokes, firing rounds of 70 and 72 to finish at even par over the course of the two day event.

A one under score of 70 might have looked great on most days, but in Lively last weekend, that would find Couillard trailing Chris Lee (66), Tim Caine (67), Hatton (68) and Chase Chatwell (69) after one day of play.

But when the dust settled 24 hours later, it was Couillard showing the way at 142, followed by Hatton (144), Darren Edward (146), Chad Brousseau (148) and Chatwell, Lee and Caine, all at 149.

Remaining flight champions included:

1st flight - Adam Hayes - 149 (Eric Vickman also at 149)
2nd flight - Cam Hreljac - 150
3rd flight - Justin Karcz - 155 (Brad Stumpf also at 155)
4th flight - Pat Tallon - 161
5th flight - Darren Duff - 166 (four tied at 166)
6th flight - Roger Emdin - 170
7th flight - Robert Parisotto - 179
8th flight - Dan York - 188
9th flight - Felix Stoneypoint - 200
10th flight - Brian Bennett - 253

Meanwhile, over at the Idylwylde Golf & Country Club, all eyes were on the kids as the local club rounded out the summer of club championship presentations. Club champions in 2018 were:

Juniors: Emmett Taillefer (74-74) - runner-up - Josh Hayes
Juveniles: Ethan Mulligan (80-77) - runner-up - Vincent Palladino
Bantams: Connor Di Salle (89-93) - runner-up - Cole Dubowsky
Ladies: Louise Sheridan* (78-79) - runner-up - Cathie Anzil
Men's: Matt Bortolotto (74-81-78) - runner-up - Scott Restoule
Blue Red Tees: Robert Nistico (84-81) - runner-up - Jordan Richardson
* 15th time Sheridan has captured the title
