Lemieux and Deng showing the way at Junior Golf event
2018-06-22
by Randy Pascal

Lea Lemieux and Aiden Deng would emerge as age group champions as the second of the Sudbury Junior Golf Tour events was hosted last weekend at the Timberwolf Golf Course.

With no other female entries through the first two tournaments, Lemieux was shifted over with the U13 boys, morphing that bracket into a mixed division. No issues there for Lemieux, who shot an 84, good for an eight stroke win over Ben Hickey.

The victory also moved Lemieux into top spot in the "Tour Point Standings" (U13 division), her total of 170 points twenty clear of Ryder Coe, who finished third at Timberwolf (99).

Rounding out the younger field were Eligh Deng (102) and Clark Turcotte (151). Meanwhile, Aiden Deng made it two for two, following up his earlier triumph at Cedar Green with a round of 84 at Timberwolf.

That score gave the local teen a little breathing room over Adam Zulich and Jacob Demoré, both tied for second at 89. The balance of the U16 bracket featured:

Joseph Colasimone - 93
Eric Dissanayake - 95
Mathieu Bazinet - 101
Jack Rain - 102
Stephen Irvine - 105
Connor Wood - 124
