Hall of Fame Dinner award finalists confirmed

National championship teams, provincial players of the year and Canadian paralympians dot the lineup of individual award nominees that will be recognized at the Sudbury Sports Hall of Fame Dinner on June 13th at the Caruso Club.

Following is a list of all who have made their way through as finalists, and a couple of short notes with regards to their accomplishments:

Amateur Import Athlete of the Year
Kadre Gray (L.U. men's basketball) - U Sports men's basketball player of the year; OUA Male Athlete of the Year
Mary Strain (Cambrian cross-country) - Cambrian Female Athlete of the Year; OCAA silver medal winner

Professional Athlete of the Year
Tyler Bertuzzi - rookie with the Detroit Red Wings (NHL) - 7G - 17A - 48 GPs
Jenna Hellstrom - played professionally in Sweden and dressed for her first international friendlies with the Canadian National Women's Soccer team
Mike McCue - bronze medal winner at Canadian Squash Championships; captured first place at 2018 Mount Royal University Open

Amateur Elite Athlete of the Year
Collin Cameron (para nordic skier) - triple bronze medal winner at 2018 Winter Paralympics in Pyeongchang
Nina Kucheran (swimmer) - silver medal winner at Canadian Championships; committed to Florida State University on swim scholarship

Amateur Female Athlete of the Year
Tiffany Johnson (Cambrian soccer) - CCAA Player of the Year; record holder in OCAA for most career goals and goals in a single season
Stephanie Pascal (Queen's hockey) - OUA Goaltender of the Year; first team all-star; U-Sports Female Athlete of the Month (January 2018)
Samantha Cooper (Fairfield b-ball - NCAA) - all-MAAC second team all-star; leading scorer (team) averaging 14.9 points per game

Tristan Renaud (golf) - Ontario Junior Boys champion; youngest winner of the Idylwylde Invitational
