The WMBC (Walden Mountain Bike Club) Wolfpak are enjoying strong performances from both veterans and newcomers alike, as they gear up for a heavy
stretch of racing in the coming weeks.
Rookie Luukas Ovaska has quickly asserted himself on the Ontario Cup circuit, adding yet another podium finish at his most recent stop in
Barrie. The 16 year old finished third at the Trek Store Canada Cup XCO in a time of 51:24, and also holds down third place in the overall standings
of the Cadet Sport Male 15-16 grouping, with just three races remaining.
A pair of locals took part in the Master Expert 30-39 Male field, with Alex Anstice finishing fifth (1:35:39), while Ian Sagle was a
couple of minutes back (1:37:48) in seventh place.
Club organizer Rob St Marseille rounded out the local contingent, placing 19th in the Master Sport 50-54 Division. Over at Albion Hills,
Paul Guenette was continuing his preparation towards the Leadville 100 in Colorado in August, pedaling his way to a second place finish at
the Summer Solstice 24 hour relay.
Guenette completed 19 laps of the 14 kilometer course over a stretch of 23 hours 53 minutes and 33 seconds, taking part in the solo male under 40 bracket.
The Wolfpak Racing Team will enjoy the Canada Day festivites before heading back on the road on July 9th, heading to Gravenhurst for the Scott Ontario
Cup XCO meet being hosted at the Buckkwallow Cycling Centre.
