1. How long have you been involved in sports?

This is my first year competing at a competitive level, but I’ve been dabbling since high school.

 

2. What is your most memorable moment in sport? Making the OUA team this year.

 

3. What is your most embarrassing moment in sport? Too many to recount…

 

4. What is the best part about playing sports at Laurentian University?

The Team Spirit, the support and the positive energy!

 

5. What is a typical game-day like for you, starting when you wake up?

A lot of thinking, visualizing, but it’s pretty similar to any other day, except that I run a race!

 

6. Are you superstitious in regards to sports? If so, how so?

Sometimes…I always wear the same shorts and socks at a race, but in terms of practices and food etc, I’m not superstitious.

 

7. What is your favorite pre-game meal? Toast and coffee. Very exciting.    

 

8. You love running because…

it’s challenging, fun and exciting. It’s just as much a mental game as it is a physical one.

 

9. What is the best advice you have ever received?

It takes courage to be able to work through the injuries and illness – eventually they will pass, and you’ll be a better athlete because of them.

 

10. What advice would you give a young runner?

Never be discouraged, keep your eyes up and your shoulders down and GO!

 

11. If you could change one thing about running it would be?

The way my calves feel after wearing spikes

 

12. Do you have any other talents?  Everyone has other talents, whether they know it or not!

 

13. What do you enjoy on off-days?

Yes and no: I always feel like I should be doing something – whether it’s an alternate workout or an easy run, but it’s so nice to have the time to relax and recoup.

 

14. If you could witness one moment in history, it would be?

Any time before there were people- when there were dinosaurs!

 

15. Who has influenced your career the most?  My entire family has influenced me so much

2. What is your most memorable moment in sport? I don’t have just one moment but I think just watching Canadian Swimmers succeed internationally and around you on your team motivates you to train harder.

 

3. What is your most embarrassing moment in sport? I swam a 100 free during my second or third year in competitive with my on dck shorts on and they fell off when I dove in and sunk to the bottom so people though that I didn’t have a bathing suit on.

 

4. What is the best part about playing sports at Laurentian University? I think the best part is the training group you are with as they help to keep you motivated when it is hard to come by as swimmers do some of the most grueling training schedules of all varsity athletes.

 

5. What is a typical game-day like for you, starting when you wake up? I just try and docus on what I want to accomplish at this specific competition and using the ability I have to complete my goals I personally set for myself.

 

6. Are you superstitious in regards to sports? If so, how so? I don’t really have superstitions but I do have a fairly specific routine that I follow like an order that I go through before a race. So I’ll typically put my cap on at a certain time before my race starts, then put my goggles on at a later time and then make sure I keep my body constantly moving before the race so that my muscles don’t get cold and my heart rate stays fairly high.

 

7. What is your favorite pre-game meal?  Pasta the night before I swim

 

8. You love swimming because… it is competitive if it wasn’t I wouldn’t be doing it.

 

9. What is the best advice you have ever received?  My old coach back home told me that the most relaxed person at the start of the race will typically be the fastest in the pool.

 

10. What advice would you give a young swimmer? Only swim because you love it at the university level if don’t have the drive then you won’t want to swim nine practices a week.

 

11. If you could change one thing about swimming it would be? Only train a little and compete more.

 

12. Do you have any other talents? I am quite the active person in other sports

 

13. What do you enjoy on off-days? Off-days?  What are those? I like to sleep and eat.

 

14. If you could witness one moment in history, it would be? Any of Tiger Woods, Major victories.

 

15. Who has influenced your sporting career the most? My last coach Eric Kramer has been my biggest influence on my sporting career and without him I would not be the swimmer I am today or I wouldn’t be the swimmer I will become.
