Nepean nips Sudbury in Agnes Jacks U14 final
2016-01-25

Back to back games with the same opponent proved problematic for the Sudbury U14 Girls ringette team, as the local ladies settled for silver at the Agnes Jacks Memorial Tournament in North Bay earlier this month.

The Sudbury squad squeezed out a 7-6 victory over Ottawa in their opening game, as Erika Poirier paced the attack with a three-goal effort. Jessica Willis, Avery Blanchard, Megan Watson and Hannah Niemi added one goal apiece for the winners.

Willis was front and center in game two, busting out with a four-goal performance as Sudbury swamped Markham 8-3. Niemi, Blanchard, Kaitlyn Hinksman and Poirier rounded things off for head coach Melissa Lapalme and company.

Three wins in as many games as Sudbury bounced Sault Ste Marie 9-2, powered by a pair of goals each from Kylee Lapalme and Blanchard. Chipping in with solo tallies were Cydney Tinkham, Poirier, Alexis McLean-McMurray, Willis and Alexis Pilon.

Facing Nepean for the first time, the Sudbury reps looked strong, posting a 7-3 win as Willis and Poirier each found the back of the net on two occasions. Joining the local duo on the scoresheet were Lapalme, Pilon and Emily Baxter Brown.

It was a different story when the teams met again the very next day, as Nepean posted a 5-4 win in a highly-physical back and forth affair. Blanchard, with two, Poirier and Willis handled the scoring for the Sudbury regional "A" team.

The 2015-2016 edition of the Sudbury U14 girls ringette team is composed of Katrina Locking, Avery Blanchard, Alexis McLean-McMurray, Jordan Caldwell, Hannah Niemi, Katherine MacIsaac, Erika Poirier, Cydney Tinkham, Amanda Tocholke, Megan Watson, Emily Baxter Brown, Kaitlyn Hinksman, Patricia Deschenes, Jessica Willis, Alexis Pilon and Kylee Lapalme.
