A final four showing for U10 Wolves at International Silver Stick
2024-01-14

A pair of local teams kicked off the run that is five-strong in 2024 of Sudbury and area representatives taking part in International Silver Stick competition this month, with both proving to be more than competitive with their peers from across North America.

The Sudbury U10 AA Wolves finished with a 3-1-0 record in round robin play, good enough to secure top spot in Pool B but were eliminated in\ semi-final action, dropping a 4-1 decision to the Toronto East Ender Ticats.

The Ticats would move on and defeat the Ottawa Valley Silver Seven by that same score to claim gold. As for the Wolves, they edged the Silver Seven 4-3 to open tournament play but were beaten 3-1 by the Burlington Eagles, evening their record at 1-1.

But the northern lads cruised past both the Newmarket Renegades (5-0) and the Port Huron Flags (5-2) to earn their spot in the final four.

The Nickel City U15 AA Sons, Copper Cliff U15 A Reds and Nickel City U15 A Sons all begin play this coming Friday in Port Huron.
