With her 30th birthday now less than a year away, Sudbury soccer sensation CloƩ Lacasse recorded another pair of firsts as the Canadian national women's team continued their preparation for World Cup - 2023 with a two-game set of friendlies in Spain.

Facing Argentina on October 6th, Lacasse came on in relief of starter Nichelle Prince in the 64th minute, with the contest still scoreless at that point. Just four minutes later, Canada would take advantage of an own goal by their opponent, breaking the ice with a 1-0 lead.

In the 87th minute, Lacasse was left unmarked off to the side of the Argentinian keeper, redirecting a cross from Clarissa Larisey into the vacated cage.

As a result, the graduate of Ecole Secondaire Macdonald-Cartier and forward with the Portuguese Benfica SL club team was in the starting lineup as Canada met up with Morocco four days later.

Lacasse remained in the game right through to the 64th minute, replaced by Larisey with Canada leading 2-0 on goals from Jessie Fleming and Evelyne Viens.

Janine Beckie and Clarissa Larisey would complete the 4-0 whitewashing of Morocco with strikes in the final ten minutes of the contest. While Canada is expected to add to their list of exhibition games in the coming months, date and opponents have yet to be named.
