More on the five major GSSC individual award winners

The Greater Sudbury Soccer Club (GSSC) doled out the hardware a few weeks back, recognizing individual team award winners as well as the five primary club awards.

Below are brief bios regarding the five who received the highest level accolades at the GSSC banquet:

Club Goalkeeper Award: Noah Palladino did not concede a single goal in open play all summer, helping to lead the Impact U13 boys to an undefeated season while surrendering a total of only five goals, all on penalty kicks. "We look forward to watching Noah develop", noted the GSSC media release

Impact Sportsmanship Award: Although derailed with an injury early in the summer, Misaki Diavolitsis continued to attend team events, encouraging teammates throughout her recovery.

When she returned to the field, Diavolitsis showed the highest level of resilience, leadership and dedication. She helped the U15 Impact Girls to an undefeated second half of their HDSL (Huronia District Soccer League) season as well as a tournament win in Ottawa.

Coach of the Year: Long-time GSSC coach Doug Rosener has taken a lead role as head coach of the Impact U15 Girls team. Along with the help of his staff and thanks largely to the efforts of the players, the team was transformed from a squad struggling to get results in June to a team that would would not suffer a loss in the final two months of the year.

"Doug's commitment to the girls and his drive to hemp them succeed, with is coaching is what helped him earn the 2022 GSSC Coach of the Year award".

Female Player of the Year: The captain of the U17 Impact girls team, Kiana Levac has always led her team through her work ethic, her physicality, as well as enjoying an awareness that she is a role on and off the field

"Kiana's body of work throughout the 2022 season has encompassed the GSSC values and sets her out as a role model for future top female GSSC players"

Male Player of the Year: Also the captain of his team, U17 Impact boys veteran Carter Grenier is both an ambitious player and vocal leader, helping to guide on of the most talented groups in the entire club.

"Carter is an excellent representation of what the GSSC wants to see in their top male athletes, again making him a role model for the next generation of male players."
