While the Lo-Ellen Park Knights were a force to be reckoned with on both the boys and girls side of the draw at the NOSSA Nordic Skiing Championship held earlier this week at the Walden Cross Country Trails, it was definitely the LOE lads that were most dominant.

In both the junior and senior boys divisions, the Knights swept the top four positions, running one deeper in the junior bracket as Kaeden Ward (Senior) and Sam Rice (Junior) captured the overall titles.

Directly behind Ward were high-school champion (as opposed to open champion - which includes the club racers) Liam Lacroix, followed by Kai Nener, Patrick Wiss and Travis Annett of Lockerby Composite.

In the junior event, teammates Russell Joiner (Open champion), Owen Dobson, Owen Claridge and Nicho Labrecque were in hot pursuit of Sam Rice as Lo-Ellen athletes secured eight of the top ten slots.

There was a little more diversity in the female categories as Madeleine Tremblay (College Notre-Dame - Senior) and Lauren Pineau (Lockerby - Junior) took home bragging rights among their peers.

Trailing Tremblay, in order, were Rochelle Larivière (Sacré-Coeur), high-school champion Heli Maki (LOE), teammate Sophia Oommen and Jeunesse-Nord senior Sophie Azzi.

Lo-Ellen racers were also right on the heels of Pineau, with the trio of Finlay Cuza, Grace Thomas (high-school champion) and Gracie Dale attempting to chase her down, while Ava Hodgins of Lasalle nabbed the fifth place ribbon.
