North Stars pick up emotional win 2009-09-29 by Randy Pascal
With heavy hearts, the Dog House Sports Bar North Stars put their mind to the business at hand in a very big way. After attending the funeral of
well-known Sudbury pitching ace Brad Rienguette earlier in the day, his many friends dotting the North Stars' roster grabbed the series lead in the
Rick McDonald Fastball League final, blasting the Pickerel River Cardinals 10-0 in a game called after just three innings of play.
Jordy "Swede" Dahlvick improved his post-season record to 6-1, tossing a one-hitter for the win on the mound. Pitou Paquette belted a home
run off Pickerel River starter Johnny Kagaggin, who took the loss for the Cards. The Dog House now leads the best of five affair two games to one and,
following Monday's rainout of game # 4 in Azilda, will look to wrap up their second consecutive league title and fourth in five years.
Fastball fans are also reminded that the year-end "Banquet and Awards Celebration" is set for Saturday, October 17th at the Royal Hotel in Garson (next
to the arena), with tickets available at a cost of $ 15/person.
