Auto Depot cruises to to Slo-Pitch title 2009-08-19 by Randy Pascal
The Sudbury Industrial Slo-Pitch League, the oldest in the city with a quarter century of ball memories behind it, staged their playoff tournament
this past weekend. Following round robin play, both Auto Depot and the Fielding Colts finished with identical records of 2-0-1, with Auto Depot
garnering top spot thanks to a lower run differential.
In semi-final action, Auto Depot easily disposed of the Tailgators (24-7) while the Colts faced a much stiffer test, defeating Chad's Team 11-9.
In the championship final, the experience of the Auto Depot crew came in handy, limiting the Colts to only two runs in the top of the first and cruising to
a 9-2 victory.
Justin Nootchtai stroked out three hits, including a double for Auto Depot while Dave Proulx went 2 for 3 (2-run HR) in a losing cause for
the Colts.
